The Black Phone Horror

This Dramatic Portrait
In the battle between spirituality and money, it's a knockout win for materialism in Michael Showalter's delightfully tacky biopic regarding the shamed TV preacher and her criminal husband. Garfield plays the corrupt Bakker, who declares at the beginning, “God does not want us to be poor,”. The couple commence profiting from the American public's Christian beliefs. It's an extravaganza of poor styling, excessive cosmetics and hypocrisy, however Chastain achieves to show the real-life figure in a likable light. October 14th, 1.15am, the Film4 channel
