From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Fans can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
